Silence was
written in the 13th century by Heldriss of Cornwall, but was lost to
history until 1911
when it was discovered in a British manor house in a box labeled
"old papers - no value."
The story of a
young woman, named Silence (pronounced 'See Lawns'), the only
daughter of a noble family who is raised as a boy because the
(fictitious) King Evan of England denied women the right to inherit
property. Her training so successful, she soon proves not only
equal, but superior to male peers in riding, hunting, wrestling,
skill at arms, and musical talent.
The gender debate
presented in
Silence is
hundreds of years ahead of its time.
Nurture urging Silence to continue life as a man, while Nature
telling her to pursue her true identity as
a blossoming woman. The drama that ensues will captivate your
imagination!
We won't tell you
any more than this. You'll have to come to our debut of
Silence to
find out what happens.
See you there at
7:30 pm
June 19 and 20
at the Village Hall in Melbourne Village.
